Salon du Chat will host a discussion on repealing the 8th Amendment in Ormston House, Patrick Street, Limerick on Sunday 4th February from 2pm – 4pm as part of a series of Repeal events hosted by Repeal LK.
This is the second Salon du Chat discussing repealing the 8th Amendment. The first was held in Cloughjordan on Nollaig na mBan. Big thanks to all the people from Cloughjordan and further afield who joined us for the discussion. People were honest and respectful in their discussions, they really listened and, hopefully, heard different opinions to their own.
We’re delighted to be programmed by Repeal LK as part of their series of events running in February this year. The Limerick Feminist Network and the rest of the Repeal LK organising committee have lined up some excellent events including Love Not Eight on the 3rd February in Dolans and Out of Silence, an evening of resistance poetry in Ormston House on Friday 2nd February.
The Salon du Chat event is happening on the afternoon of Sunday 4th February, open from 2pm to 4pm. So even if you’ve spent the night partying at Love Not Eight you should just about manage to get up in time! We’ll have freshly brewed coffee to help ease you into some epic conversations.
The menu will be the same menu we used at Cloughjordan, where the most popular coversations were:
Starters – “Too many people use abortion as a form of birth control. And that’s very wrong. I could never, ever have an abortion.” Brooke Shields
Mains – “I’m not saying it wasn’t a difficult decision – it absolutely was. I just wasn’t ready to have a baby. I do have a supportive partner and we’re still together now – but we just didn’t know each other enough at the time.” Emma
And for dessert – “Childless is Selfish”
To see the full menu and get the conversation started come to Salon du Chat in Ormston House on February 4th. The Salon will be open from 2pm – 4pm, pop in anytime, we’ll have the coffee on!
