In a world where children are told to be quiet and listen, Salon du Chat creates a place where children have their say. The first kids only Salon du Chat is happening in Limerick on Saturday 11th October in 69 O’Connell Street as part of the Buladh Bos Children’s Festival.
Salon du Chat is excited about cooking up a kids only menu. Expect a delicious menu of fun, funny, fantastical and real topics for kids to get stuck into.
Aimed at children in 4th, 5th and 6th class Salon du Chat creates an informal and relaxed environment for children to chat with their peers about their ideas and opinions. The children will be welcomed into a cafe, seated in small groups of 3 – 4 and given a cookie, a drink (milk or juice) and a menu. From the menu they will choose as a group what they want to talk about. Then with the help of a young facilitator they spend the next 30 – 40 minutes, chatting and listening to each other.
The menus are still being cooked up by Salon du Chat chefs but here’s the type of topic to expect:
If I could be invisible
Making and breaking the rules
What makes me smile
The best holiday EVER
Dreaming big dreams…
